Free March Break Family Workshops (March 17–18)

Cooper Marsh Conservation Area

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 (10 am –2 pm (Drop-in))

The River Institute and the RRCA are offering free, family-friendly March Break workshops at Cooper Marsh Conservation Area on March 17 and 18, 2026, from 10 am to 2 pm. Activities take place at the Cooper Marsh Visitors Centre and are open to families and children accompanied by a parent or caregiver.

Families can drop in to enjoy hands-on, all-ages programming focused on winter ecology, including guided nature walks, wildlife tracking, birdwatching, tree identification, and indoor science activities. The workshops provide an opportunity to explore Cooper Marsh, part of the provincially significant Charlottenburgh Marsh wetland complex, and learn about the diverse ecosystems it supports.

Cooper Marsh is one of three Conservation Areas managed by the RRCA and regularly hosts educational programming through its ongoing partnership with the River Institute’s award-winning environmental education team.

Just minutes from South Lancaster, the 673-acre Marsh forms part of the Charlottenburgh Marsh, one of Ontario’s most significant coastal wetlands. The RRCA works to protect and enhance the area, which features viewing blinds and platforms, a self-guided interpretive tour, and over 10 kilometres of boardwalks and nature trails.

The River Institute and the RRCA are also hosting week-long day camps at Cooper Marsh this July for children aged 7 to 10.
