Friday, July 3, 2026 (1:00 pm–4:00 pm)

RRCA's Family Fishing Afternoon, sponsored by Ontario Power Generation, is taking place Friday, July 3, from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm at the mouth of Gray's Creek on the St. Lawrence River (southeast of the County Road 2 bridge over Gray's Creek, and just south of Gray's Creek Conservation Area at 18045 County Road 2, Cornwall).

This free event lets young anglers and their families try their hand at catching fish while learning about the region’s native fish species, practicing proper fishing techniques and spending quality time in nature. Youth have a chance to win several prizes through a friendly fishing competition. A fishing licence is not required, as the event takes place during Ontario’s licence-free fishing week.

Seasoned anglers will be on hand to coach participants, and RRCA staff will help measure and identify the afternoon's catches. Participants are strongly encouraged to observe proper fishing and water safety practices.

For those without fishing equipment, the RRCA will be lending out rods, hooks, bobbers, and bait, while supplies last, thanks to the conservation authority's participation in the Ontario Federation of Anglers and Hunters’ TackleShare fishing equipment loaning program.
