World Wetlands Day at Cooper Marsh

Cooper Marsh Conservation Area, 20020 County Road 2, South Glengarry, ON

Saturday, February 25, 2023 (10 am - 2 pm)

The Raisin Region Conservation Authority and the Mohawk Council of Akwesasne are inviting communities from both sides of the Kaniatarowanenneh – the St. Lawrence River – to celebrate World Wetlands Day with a free, fun-filled winter day at Cooper Marsh Conservation Area on February 25, from ten a.m. to two p.m.

Come learn about Cooper Marsh and other wetlands with a variety of interactive displays and activities by local environmental organizations, venture out on guided snowshoe tours around the Marsh, enjoy tasty traditional Mohawk food, and have a chance to win several wetland-themed prizes. The day’s event will also kick off 60th anniversary celebrations of the RRCA’s establishment in 1963.

World Wetlands Day is an opportunity to celebrate and raise awareness about the many ecological, hydrological, and other benefits provided by fens, bogs, swamps and marshes around the world and in our own communities.

Cooper Marsh Conservation Area is located at 20020 County Road 2 in South Glengarry.

The event was originally set to be held on February 4, but was rescheduled for February 25 due to weather.
