Watershed Conditions: Water Safety Statement

March 4, 2022

The Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) is issuing a Water Safety Statement for the RRCA jurisdiction.

Air temperature is forecast to exceed 10 degrees Celsius on Sunday, March 6. Rain is also forecast, but the total accumulation is uncertain. Snowmelt and rainfall are expected to increase water levels and flows across the RRCA jurisdiction on March 6.

Next week, snowmelt will slow as temperatures are forecast to fall below freezing. However, with daytime highs above zero expected most days next week, water levels may remain elevated as a slow snowmelt continues.

At this time, flooding is not expected. However, please be aware that water conditions may change quickly on March 6 and high water flows, melting ice, and slippery conditions around water could be dangerous. Caution should be exercised near waterbodies. Parents should inform their children of the risks and provide appropriate supervision.

This statement is in effect until Friday, March 11, 2022, at 4:00 PM. The RRCA will continue monitoring water levels and weather forecasts as part of the Flood Forecasting and Warning program. Updates will be provided as conditions change.
