Cooper Marsh Closed From November 30 to mid-December

November 29, 2022

The parking lot at Cooper Marsh Conservation Area will be closed from November 30, 2022 to mid-December for scheduled reconstruction work.  The parking lot reconstruction is important to ensure that the parking lot will remain resilient to springtime water saturation, which made it prone to deep ruts. It is anticipated that the work will take two weeks to complete. A notice will be issued on the RRCA’s social media and website at rrca.on.ca when the parking lot has re-opened. Following the reconstruction, visitors will be able to enjoy a completely re-designed parking space.

While the parking lot at Cooper Marsh is temporarily closed, visitors are encouraged to explore the RRCA’s other trails at nearby Charlottenburgh Park or Gray’s Creek Conservation Area.

The 663-acre Cooper Marsh is one of the RRCA’s three Conservation Areas. Located a few minutes’ drive from Lancaster, it is part of the larger Charlottenburgh Marsh – one of the most significant wetlands in Ontario. In all, the RRCA owns and maintains 1,664 acres of environmentally significant lands to enhance forest cover, conserve sensitive ecological habitat, protect significant wetlands, and provide recreational opportunities to the public.

Cooper Marsh Conservation Area received 40,000 visitors in 2021. For more information visit rrca.on.ca or contact (613) 938-3611 or info@rrca.on.ca.
