Help Plant Trees at Gray’s Creek Conservation Area with TD FEF and the RRCA

TD Tree Days event in 2024 at Gray's Creek Conservation Area.

The Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) is again working with TD Friends of the Environment Foundation (TD FEF) to deliver a TD Tree Days event at Gray’s Creek Conservation Area on Saturday, October 4, 2025, from 9 am to 12 pm. Community members are invited to join in this effort to improve the tree canopy and wildlife habitat at the popular community greenspace in South Glengarry just east of Cornwall.

“The RRCA has helped host this annual fall tree planting event locally since 2015,” says RRCA’s acting Stewardship Coordinator, Cheyene Brunet. “It’s always a fun, almost festive occasion: a down-to-earth way to help the environment together and leave a mark on the landscape for years to come.”

Since space is limited, those looking to attend the event at Gray’s Creek are encouraged to secure their spot through the TD Tree Days website at tdtreedays.com.

“We will be planting 250 native conifers – white pine, white cedar, white spruce, and eastern hemlock – on the northern edge of the picnic area at Gray’s Creek,” says Brunet. “The approximately half-acre planting will expand the creek’s riparian buffer and help connect, diversify, and increase existing forested areas. It will also become a picturesque picnic backdrop for visitors.”

TD Tree Days is the flagship volunteer and urban greening program of TD FEF. This year, TD FEF is working together with 60 different organizations to plant over 30,000 trees and shrubs, adding to the more than 550,000 trees planted within TD’s North American footprint through TD Tree Days since 2010.

“Working with the RRCA to host TD Tree Days events in our regionregion helps us plant the right trees at the right place and meet  the needs of the area’s natural habitat,” says Sonja Muftic, TD Tree Days site leader and local TD branch manager. “We are looking forward to joining the RRCA and community volunteers on October 4 to continue enhancing this beautiful Conservation Area.”

Located at 18045 County Road 2, Cornwall, Gray’s Creek provides the community with 3.5 kilometres of nature trails, a park and picnic area, a playground, a marina, and a boat launch. Thanks to past support from TD FEF, it also features an edible forest, self-guided arboretum tour, and native plant demonstration site.
