March 16, 2026
The Raisin Region Conservation Authority (RRCA) is downgrading the Flood Warning notice issued for its jurisdiction on March 11, 2026, to a Water Safety Statement.
Environmental Conditions and Risks: Although water levels declined over the weekend, fast flows, unstable banks, and melting or unstable ice may continue to create hazardous conditions near waterways across the RRCA jurisdiction.
Weather Forecast: A thunderstorm forecast for the afternoon and evening of Monday, March 16, may bring 15–25 mm of rain and could result in short‑term increases in water levels; however, widespread river flooding is not expected at this time.
In North Glengarry: The RRCA is actively monitoring and managing lake levels at Loch Garry, Middle Lake, and Mill Pond to reduce the potential for flooding. Water levels in the Garry River, downstream of these lakes, may rise suddenly as part of necessary water level management.
This statement remains in effect until Friday, March 20, 2026, at 4:00 pm. The RRCA will continue monitoring water levels and weather forecasts as part of its Flood Forecasting and Warning program. Updates will be provided as conditions change.
About Flood Forecasting and Warning in the RRCA Jurisdiction
The Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is responsible for flood related emergencies. Flood forecasting and warning has been delegated to conservation authorities. If a local emergency is declared, MNR will work directly with the municipality in consultation with the conservation authority.
The RRCA monitors precipitation and water levels throughout Cornwall, South Glengarry, and large portions of North Glengarry and South Stormont. For more information, and to view past statements, visit rrca.on.ca.
