Grassed Waterways

Grassed waterways are broad, shallow channels designed to move surface water across farmland without causing erosion. The vegetation in the waterway slows water flow and protects channel surfaces. Runoff and snowmelt will flow toward a field's natural drainage ways; this is where grassed waterways are often established.

Benefits:
•    Diverts water without causing erosion
•    Reduces or eliminates gully erosion
•    Protects and improves water quality
•    Inexpensive to install and maintain
