In the winter months, the RRCA conducts bi-monthly snow surveys at several sites in its watershed jurisdiction. The resulting snow water equivalent measurements (i.e. the amount of water held within the snowpack) provide RRCA staff with valuable data to assess potential snowmelt contributions to river and stream flows.

The RRCA has been conducting regular snow surveys since 1978, providing many years of data against which current measurements can be compared.
