Landowners in the RRCA's jurisdiction may consider donating their land as their natural heritage legacy. The RRCA acquires land to enhance forest cover, conserve sensitive ecological habitat, and provide recreational opportunities to the public (i.e., Conservation Areas). To date, the RRCA conserves, manages and protects 1,985 acres of environmental significant land.
The RRCA may receive ecological gifts under Canada’s Ecological Gifts Program (EGP). The ECG provides a way for Canadians with ecologically sensitive land to protect nature and leave a legacy for future generations. It offers significant tax benefits to landowners who donate land or a partial interest in land to a qualified recipient. The RRCA would become responsible for the conservation of the donated land’s biodiversity and environmental heritage.
